Here are pictures of typical Dominican Dishes. I have posted many names of food on the "What can I eat Page" but here you get pictures and some more explanations of the most popular dishes.
Raisins are really just dried grapes. Here, the grapes are dried and then whole bunches are put out. The first time I saw this it was weird, but now I like being able to pick up a bunch and pick off the sweet fruit.
Sancocho-- a typical soup with several different vegetables (plantains, yucca, green bananas, potatoes) and several meats (chicken, pork, beef). It is great!
Morro- beans and lentils are cooked and then added to rice. Morro is a staple of the Dominican diet. It is great!
Avocados-- Dominican Avocados are not only HUGE they are delicious. I have put on about twenty pounds due to these delicious fruits.
Fried Fish- the traditional way of eating fish in the DR is to fry them. I have learned to really like fried fish. There are different methods for the different areas. One of the most famous are the Boca Chica fried fish.
These fish are from the Nizao region and are a little smaller than the ones we get in Boca Chica, but they were great!
